I had this half assed post all ready on Friday afternoon, but then I though better of my efforts and never posted it. It was basically a recap of my week and look here, I can do it in about 4 less paragraphs than the mouthy, long ass, basically a request for thirtieth birthday comment (which you are still free to leave), post that I had planned on posting.
· I had a baby shower last week. It was awesome and included brownies, a diaper cake, a way too expensive blanket to match a way to expensive outfit I had already purchased, two gift certificates and pimento cheese. What more could I ask for? I even did my thank you notes last night. I just have to pass them out.
· I am ginormus. And hurty. Standing up hurts, walking hurts, laying down hurts and you can forget rolling over. HURTS. Getting out of Hudson's bed is torture. I go back next Wednesday afternoon to the doctor and I hope she takes one look at me and puts me out of my misery by the end of the week.
· My actual birthday was pretty darn awesome. My mother came up with dinner on Friday night. And I made my Mexican cornbread which somehow tastes BETTER in my new oven. It makes the outside all crispy and delicious and the inside soft and cheesy and fluffy. We got up the next morning and Tim and Hudson and I went and had breakfast at the zoo and got up close and personal with the small carnivores. Which is basically cats and foxes and a very shy Red Panda. It threatened to rain, but we only got hit with a few sprinkles and the spider monkeys were having breakfast which Hudson loved. We were home by 10:30 and napping by 12:15. Which is my kind of day. My nap was wonderful, the boys played in the pool and when I got up I went to Hobby Lobby to get some more picture frames in a huge downpour. Then it was off to dinner. We had originally planned on going to the Flying Fish, but passed by Bennihanna's and stopped there instead. I did not regret that at all. Except my shirt will never be the same. I dropped food on myself and then when we got in the car realized the crossover in my top contained enough fried rice to feed a small village. There was no Kate Spade, but it was still a good birthday.
· My brother called on Friday night to tell us that he is coming back to Arkansas for the next two months to work on Obama's campaign in Arkansas. While not my political party affiliation, I'm super excited that he will be here for the birth of his niece. His wife is an elementary school principal and I'm sure she will be doing a lot of traveling back and forth between here and Georgia. His first love is politics and he is so awesome at it. The "remember people's names and faces" and "not awkward in strange social situations" and "wonderful things just fall into your lap" genes seriously passed me by and he got an overdose of all three. He is so, so, so good at politicing, that Obama might actually have a chance around here with him high up in the organization. He's never worked for a looser yet. Although Tim told him he couldn't put any signs in our yard because 1)we are not for Obama and 2)a lot of people in our neighborhood are military and we would hate to piss them all off. He could be here as soon as this weekend! (And I'm not saying all these nice thing because he knows about my blog now)
· This week is our final push (ha!ha! I said push!) to get returns done for 9/15 and I think we are going to make it. That way, if I do have to go to the hospital late next week, I won't be leaving them in too much of a lurch. We'll be here all labor day weekend, and Tim is going to be getting his scuba certification on Saturday. It's going to be hectic week or two, but then it will all end in BABY!
