I click on the "begin now post" button with some trepidation.  Things are quiet around here.  The kind of quiet that makes you want to make a pan of brownies and eat the whole thing before your husband gets home.  (Don't worry, I stopped at two last week).  The kind of quiet that makes you wish your office would call you and tell you they miss you so much and would you please come back (sort of wish that...maybe). The kind of quiet that makes you get excited about going to the grocery store even if it means getting out of your pajamas.  (And Tim did ask me to get a few things and I should have gone earlier today, but I haven't yet) The kind of quiet that makes you wish there were more books in the Twilight series (Thanks so much for the present Angela, I was really trying to resist and then I had to go and the last two books on Sunday!).  The kind of quiet that makes you want to have a midafternoon margarita on the porch and put your feet in the sun and read. 

I need to do my weekly vlog, I need to vacuum , I need to go to the store, I need a haircut something serious, my kid needs a bath and I don't want to do ANY of it.

Is there anyone left who hasn't read the Twilight series?  I am starting the fourth book today and should be finished with it in a few days.  The first person who asks for the set of all four books gets them.  I would love for them to go to a good home.

Through my contact with the NewBaby.com folks, I got asked to review a Fisher Price swing.  We got it this week and it is a far cry from the travel swing hand me down we used with Hudson.  It's like the Lexus of baby swings.  And guess what they threw in, just to make it that much better? 

DO YOU SEE THE LAMB EARS ON THE TOP OF THE HEAD REST?  How could any sane person resisit that in a store, I ask you?  Oh, and Maddie thinks it's pretty cool too, There is no tiny baby squalking when I put her in it.  And it was easy to put together, even with Hudson trying to "help" me with the "parks" (parts) by shoving the allen wrench in all the tubes.  Maybe if they threw in a few extra screws so I wouldn't have to wrench them away from my screaming 2.5 year old in order to finish putting the thing together.  Also, make one in my size.

Just Scroll on Down to the End, It's what You Came for Anyway

I'm not exactly sure what I've been so busy doing the past four days, because to tell the truth, I'm a little bored.  I watched my netflixs movie yesterday (3:10 to Yuma) in the middle of the day and made some brownies (and ate two of them).  For God's sake, I started supper at some crazy hour of like 3 or 4 and Tim doesn't normally get home until after 6. 

Today we are having some visitors, a work friend from when I was in college, and my MIL.  My MIL has been without power since Saturday because of the remnants of Ike blowing through, so I bet she's going to like being somewhere where the TV actually turns on and you can see after 7:30.  After Ike left, it's been fall like here, just what I was not counting on when I bought all my baby clothes.  I just knew it was going to be 100 degrees for the duration of September, like it always is here in Arkansas.  But with the highs in the low 80's and night time in the 50's, it's almost chilly.  (Jesus, I've been reduced to talking about the weather, I told you I was bored.)

We took Maddie to her first Doctor's appointment on Tuesday and she seems to be doing fine.  She was 2 ounces away from her birth weight at 6 days old.  When the doctor asked how much she was eating, "About an ounce?" we just laughed.  Try THREE.  She been a pretty good sleeper and is gradually being more and more alert.  Too bad that alert time is during MY prime nap time 12-4pm and she also likes to stay up after 11pm until she gets hungry again at 12:30,  which is not the easiest thing for me to do either, but we'll make it. 

Some of you have noticed my new button over on the left for New Baby.com (and if you haven't, you feed reader, click over).  I've started doing video blogging for them about being a new Mom/a Mom to two kids/working mom/etc.  Basically anything Mom related.  They sent me an awesome camera to do these posts and after spending WAY too much time yesterday writing myself a script, I finished my first video.  It's not up quite yet, but you can get to my profile page by clicking on the button. You will get to hear my lovely country twang and hear me pontificate on very! important! topics! I'm hoping I get a bit better at the videoing thing quickly.  I end up tripping all over myself trying to say something profound or at least grammatically correct and end up saying ummmm a lot and looking ridiculous.  Hopefully you will see me bloom into a fabulous vlogging star, or at least watch my double chin disappear.  I put on makeup, which I haven't done since a Christmas party in 2006.  And I got dressed, which I'm sure the New Baby people appreciate. 

For those of you who like a good birth story, I'm afraid I'll have to disappoint you, but I'll post that sometime soon.  There's no carnage or blood and guts, but I feel compelled to write it down I guess.  Maybe that can be my next video.  I'll get some diagrams ready and have them mounted on foam core ASAP.  Be on the lookout for that.  Has anyone seem my laser pointer? Maybe I can do a reinactment?  No? 

I've actually LATHERED up her hair, there's so much of it. 

My Baby Has a First Name

I guess we had to name her sometime.  On Thursday night, we threw out all the names we had discussed and settled on Madeline "Maddie" Simmons Phillips.  Simmons is my grandmother's maiden name and Madeline we pulled out of nowhere.  She was 8 lbs 9oz and was 21 inches long.  She has so much hair that we can put a clip in bow in it already. 

We got to come home on Friday, and it has of been a wild few days of feeding, visitors, coughing, cat naps, and taking care of big brothers.  So far Hudson has been an excellent big brother to his "baby siser."

Thanks everybody for your sweet comments and twitters over the last few days.  I'll be ready to post more tomorrow after I catch up with my reader and kick all these people out of the house.   

Still Baby No Name

Ummmmmmmm....

I know I said I didn't want to work past Sunday, but what in the heck am I going to do for the next two days?  I don't even think they have movies during the day anymore.  All the clothes are washed and put away, the bottles are washed and put away, we're waiting on the cleaning lady to get over her strep throat so she can come and clean my house (I got out the BROOM  this morning already, dear Jesus, it's getting wild in here! Stop me before I do the toilets!), I got the baby book, the baby sister present has been wrapped and a coming home passie lovingly picked out and included by one Hud-Hud. 

Maybe I shoudl put on some pants - oh, nevermind, no pants fit me anymore.  I don't know how I'm goign to take a "before the hospital" picture if I can't wear any pants.

I am goign to the doctor for a check this afternoon and I plan on getting a pedicure before that. Big! Plans! I know. Ya'll don't hold your breath or anything waiting on a report from all that excitement.

Did you know that if you sound like crap and ask your doctor to, "Please, please make me have this baby." She will smile knowingly and say, "Why, yes, we can do that, but you have to wait until 39 weeks."?

Well, she will. And it will make up for the hour and a half you just sat on a paper covered exam table with no pants on. You'll be so excited you can't even complain that you had to wait so long that you had to get re-dressed and got to the bathroom and then come back and get undressed AGAIN and that your paper sheet got too wrinkled and you helped yourself to another one. Oh, and some more exam table paper too, because the first batch was starting to stick to your butt.

So, baby noname is going to be induced into this world starting at 5am CST on Wednesday, September 10, 2008. And maybe by the end of the day she will have a name. Maybe. If she does, I will share it with you. I did share with my boss that I will be available for work until Sunday and then I am done until November 3. So that's two days to go to the doctor and get my tonails painted and whatever else I think I need to do to be ready for this baby to show up. Otherwise I would be here getting "one last thing," just "one more thing" done on Tuesday night and besides seriously pissing Tim off, is not what I want to do. So I'm not.

Last week I had a stomach virus, which is never pleasant, but was made even more unpleasant because my stomach makes it hard for me to approach the toilet with any kind of grace and poise (For which I am very clearly known...) and I get charley horses in my hamstrings from the sheer force of vomiting. That is the first, and hopefully, last time I have thrown up during any pregnancy. I stayed in bed from 1 pm on Wednesday, until 10 am on Thursday. It was terrible and we will never speak again of Quiznos who brought to full realization just how "not good" I was feeling. The ladies at Sports Clips were very kind when I went running through that men's haircutting joint with a harried, "CanIuseyourbathroom?Thanks."

Now I have contracted this mysterious cough that is not affecting any other part of my sinus systems, only my lungs. And it makes it damn hard to sleep. Because I have to sit up to get a good breath to cough and then, guess what sitting up in the middle of the night at 38 weeks pregnant does? Yes. You have to go to the bathroom, AGAIN. And didn't you just do this at 1:30 and 1:49 and 2:08 and 2:40 and 2:59 and 3:10 and, and, and? My doctor also took pity on me in this regard and gave me a prescription for some codeine cough syrup. It lasts four hours. And it is like purple heaven in a bottle. Thank you Jesus.

In other family news, Hudson has strep throat, Tim's birthday was on Saturday and he spent it at the lake getting his scuba diving certification, my DAD bought a motorcycle, my brother is living in my toy room and working for Obama, and it has rained here nonstop for three days because of Gustav. The whole town needs a good drying out period, and my dogs would like to go and pee without getting wet. That may be more wishes than I get granted since the baby is now scheduled for downloading.

Since I plan on being at the office for the next few days, you might not hear from me again until next week, but if anything develops further I will let you know. It may just be a picture from my phone, but it will probably be before my MIL knows anything, so, dear internet, you see where you rank.

*And won't that be a cool brithday when she's three? 9/10/11? Awesome.
